Rain Study No. 5
Being purposefully without a car exposes you to the elements affords you more opportunities to observe Beauty* in odd places much more than just running from your driveway to the porch so as not to get wet.
*And yes, I a using old-fashioned capitalization here since I think Beauty is a concept (albeit a much misunderstood one) and not just some piss-poor aesthetic value system.

We are definitely insulated from the elements. I was just thinking about this when in SF we were caught in some rain and just in general out in the streets in the SF wind. It seems we rush to wrap ourselves up in safety and comfort without any thought to what we lose--guess it's human nature/survival.

Well, I don't know about Beauty (not denying the capital-b version, just saying I don't know--), but this photo IS beautiful.
