Cordelia wanted some pictures of the new digs, so there are over there. You know the drill.

Sputterings

I've been working on another thing for the WASH thing; this time it is one of those speckly black and grey composition notebooks with seemingly random stuff and sketches and what not from whomever I run into. For example, friend Jeff has a sketch from friend Lucas's show at Monk's last night. We'll see where that goes. I doubt that I will ever mass produce it as it will be many pages. It is marked "No. 8" since I figure it will be some time since it is complete. I think WASH is on its third thought cycle. Issue 3 is going to be a regulation 'zine, I think; photocopied and dropped off at music stores and the like.

Want to contribute? Digital text and non-text suitable for photocopying welcomed. Send me an email, if you do. What have you got to lose but your shame? So far lot's of folks haven't wanted to lose their shame.

Gazuntheit!

Candace has started a new women's theater group Avalon Isle:

AVALON ISLE, Women’s Theatre Group, the first and only feminist theatre company in Utah, is proud to announce our first production “Desdemona, A Play About a Handkerchief” by Pulitzer Prize Winning Playwright Paula Vogel at the Utah Center for Arts on 2191 South 300 West in Salt Lake City.

This full-length comedy/drama presents a Desdemona different from the helpless wife and victim that audiences have come to know through William Shakespeare’s play “Othello”. While deconstructing and re-inventing Shakespeare's play about the tragic Othello, Paula Vogel uses suggestive tongue-in-cheek humor to raise serious questions as to the role of women through the ages. The comic twists and turns so common to Shakespeare are still there and the audience will be treated to a different and provocative side of a thought-provoking play about women. If you are a fan of the popular play “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern” by Tom Stoppard you will love Avalon Isle’s production of Desdemona, A Play About A Handkerchief”!

All performances will be held at the Utah Arts Alliance, 2191 South and 300 West on the following dates: October 22nd and 23rd at 7:30 p.m., October 30th at 7:30 p.m., October 31st at 7:00 p.m., November 5th and 6th at 7:30 p.m., November 13th at 7:30 p.m., and November 14th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for students and seniors. This production is recommended for mature audiences.

Candace Christensen and Aina Holtz-Lagor, experienced performers and newcomer producers, founded AVALON ISLE, Women’s Theatre Group in August 2004. AVALON ISLE is dedicated to creating feminist theatre and providing feminists an opportunity to express their voice through performance art. The goals of AVALON ISLE are to create live theatre that gives women the chance to perform ground-breaking roles, encourage local writers to write feminist plays, and produce plays that emphasize women’s roles. AVALON ISLE welcomes all men and women who support these goals. Our performances will take place at the Utah Center for Arts on 2192 South 300 West: www.utaharts.org

To purchase tickets or to get more information please call 801/971 7866 or email us at avalonisle@yahoo.com.

When we were still dating, I took flowers to one of her performances. It made her co-stars exceedingly jealous. As she said, every cliche about actors is generally correct.

When they get to the part when he's breaking her heart, it can really make you cry. Shoobee doo and wait.

I'm taking a vacation from my bed.

I'm going to eat another BLT at the Blue Plate.

I'm watching the cat go crazy over a fake mouse.

I'm very happy with something I wrote.

I want to buy a Melodica to go along with my ancient Casio VL-Tone.

Wing's first 2 CD's are sold out or Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins bravest little hobbit of them all.

Hey, is it just me, or does Wing kind of sound like Marianne Faithfull, or maybe Nico? (Sorry you'll need Real Player to hear her song stylings.) Wing has Leonard Nimoy beat hands down, that's for sure. (Do you think that is Nimoy playing the bassoon?) I know one thing, Wing can't hold a candle to an old 386-DX (anyone remember those) with a midi program and a voice synthesizer. (All this fun can be found at "Incorrect Music Siftings." I guess you just have to admire people's sheer pluck, if not their demented hearing.) Tick to Charkes.

Sing it! or hot diggity ming bats for the songless soul

Here is something for you because my well has run dry and I've been singing or listening to this song all afternoon:

My love is bigger than your love
We take more drugs than a touring funk band
Sing it
My love is bigger than your love
Sing it
My love is bigger than your love
Sing it

My band is better than your band
We've got more songs than a song convention
Sing it
My love is bigger than your love
Sing it
My love is bigger than your love
Sing it

And we're all going straight to hell

My dad is bigger than your dad
He's got eight cars and a house in Ireland
Sing it
My love is bigger than your love
Sing it
My love is bigger than your love
Sing it (McLusky, "To Hell with Good Intentions")

I have no idea why I'm stuck on this tune all of a sudden. The lyrics are not super hot diggity ming bats, but I like something about them. The tune's not bad either. McLusky does have the best title I've heard in a while for their new CD: The Difference Between Me & You is that I'm Not on Fire.

Sing it.

A poem in honor of my former car, now sold

It is nice
To sell a car
To Watch it drive
Away, a Russian
At the wheel
