3 Weddings and a Funeral

What the hell is up? I have to go to 3 weddings in the space of a month when I haven't been to a wedding in about 4 years? Guess it is catching up with me. Anyway if I can survive all the festivating this week (2 bachelor parties; 2 wedding parties...and these folks know how to party) we'll forget about the funeral part.

The eclipse. I'm not really sure what my guests and neighbors were expecting to see. They seemed disappointed when the sun set. Of course my telling them that giant blasts of sun juice would be seen spiraling their way to a doomed earth might have been part of the disappointment.

Cops and Robbers

I had a dream last night that I was instrumental in locating the kidnapped girl. I don't recall any knock-down drag out gun battles. It was something more along the lines of Fargo. It all felt like I just happened upon the kidnapper. I did manage to kill him in my dream. No wood chippers were involved, however. So what's the basis of all these True Crime dreams?

It was the first Day in the Park since 1999. KRCL had been too busy moving into their spiffy new studios to organize it properly. I mostly just stuck around the Community Writing Center Booth, but did manage to pick up a great (and huge) bumper sticker that reads "This is THE LAST Vehicle I Buy That Burns FOSSIL FUEL...Move to Hydrogen Fuel Now!" I don't really know if that is a true statement, so I won't be putting it on my car. Heh I don't think I would put anything on my car. I have too much of my dad in me to deface my car like that.

Speaking of Dad, I've been reading Terry Tempest William's Refuge. I've liked some of her work in the past, but found it all a bit too overblown. She's being honest in this one, despite the agrandized dialogue (then again that could just be an accurate reflection of Mormon-speak). Over all Williams cuts through a lot of layers. Like I said, she is honest. Her Mom's cancer was a lot like my dad's.
